Maury Marks, B.Mgt., CA
President & Chief Executive Officer

Throughout his career, Maury Marks has established himself as a visionary in the automotive retail technology industry. As one of the original founders, and as the President and CEO of Quorum Information Technologies, Maury has created a company that is committed to building and providing the best dealership management system in the world.

Maury has been around automotive retailing literally all of his life. Growing up in rural Alberta, Canada, Maury worked in his family’s GM dealership. That exposure to all facets of dealership management and to the challenges dealers face from both a business and technology standpoint, has given Maury a firm basis for founding and leading Quorum.

In 1988, Maury earned a Bachelor of Management (with Distinction) from the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada. In 1991, he received his Chartered Accountant’s designation after articling with Deloitte and Touche in Calgary. At Deloitte and Touche, Maury first worked in the accounting practice, Later, he moved to the firm’s technology consulting practice where he worked with many different companies to select and implement technology and systems to support their business needs.

He left Deloitte and Touche in 1992 and began his own practice of technology consulting for small businesses. It was during this time that his family turned to him to find a new dealer management system for their dealership. Having thoroughly evaluated the market and its offerings, Maury concluded that the industry had largely stagnated and the idea for forming Quorum was conceived.

Maury and his partners founded Quorum in 1996. Since that time, Maury has focused the company on the development of its flagship XSELLERATOR™ DMS software.


Marilyn Bown, B.Com., CPA, CGA
Chief Financial Officer

Marilyn Bown is Chief Financial Officer of Quorum. She was appointed to her current position in November 2011. Marilyn joined Quorum in 2008 as a corporate accountant and was promoted to Controller in 2010.

Marilyn graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. She obtained her Certified General Accountant designation after articling with Belanger Clarke Follett McGettigan, a Chartered Accounting firm located in St. John's, Newfoundland. She credits her experience with Belanger Clarke Follett McGettigan in helping her achieve her role at Quorum.

Marilyn joined Quorum because she liked the idea of working for a vibrant and growing company with all its associated challenges and opportunities. She loves the people and culture of Quorum.


Mark Allen, B.Sc., M.B.A.
Vice President Sales, Marketing & Services

Mark Allen has deep business, technical and automotive retail industry experience and has earned a reputation as a visionary leader in the automotive retail technologies market. Since first joining Quorum in January 2006, Mark has contributed to the organization in several capacities. His first priority was leading the launch of the General Motors Integrated Dealer Management System (IDMS) program for the company, helping to establish the relationship with GM, and preparing Quorum to deliver the services required under the contract. Later that year, he created and led a new department chartered with marketing, strategic planning and enterprise account management. In the summer of 2007, Mark took on the leadership of an extensive project to help Quorum's customers upgrade their technology platform and move to the latest version XSELLERATOR™.

His present position of VP - Sales, Marketing and Services and Director, Quorum Information Technologies (US), Inc. is the culmination of progressively added responsibility over the past several years. Mark now provides leadership for all sales, marketing, OEM and partnership relations in addition to the Services Delivery team (implementations and training).

Mark holds a BSBA degree with emphasis in information technology and finance and an MBA in Marketing - both attained with high honors. He has an extensive leadership background with large organizations such as General Motors and Electronic Data Systems (EDS). In his senior management roles with EDS Automotive Retail Group (ARG), he was responsible for overall management of ARG's product and service portfolio as well as strategic planning, technology leadership and business development. Mark also has entrepreneurial experience as Founder, President and CEO of Playing Field Inc., an innovative start-up that established a new market model for application integration within automotive retail, as well as previous endeavors such as ownership of an independent coffee shop and a small business custom application development boutique.

Mark is based in Quorum's Sterling Heights, Michigan office.


Dan Ichelson, B.Sc., M.B.A.
Vice President Operations & Development

Dan received a Bachelor of Science (Zoology) in 1987 and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Calgary in 1992. Prior to joining Quorum in 1998, he was directly involved with the development and implementation of an in-house system for a nationally franchised organization. Dan spent his first few years with Quorum supporting and implementing XSELLERATOR™ in GM dealerships. During that time he worked closely with the Development Group to analyze and define the business requirements for change requests and new product features.

He was instrumental in defining, building, and testing the application used to convert dealers’ legacy data for use in XSELLERATOR™. He also played a large QA role in testing all development output. Dan took over management of the Development Group in 2003 and has continued to play a key role in setting the direction for product development. He has also managed many large development projects including GM U.S. integration efforts and other exciting product developments. Dan was appointed Vice President Product in November of 2006.




Ron Malone
North American Sales Manager

Ron joined Quorum as an Account Manager in September of 2011. In June, 2013, Ron took on the role of leading Quorum's sales team as North American Sales Manager. Ron's background in Information Technology began right out of college in the early 1980s. A majority of that time was concentrated directly with Dealer Management Systems, including various positions in the DMS field for ADP and EDS; and Infomedia, an international Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) provider, where he served as National Sales Manager. Performing over the years in various technical, customer support and project management roles, Ron has primarily been focused on sales, marketing and new business development for more than 15 years now.

Ron grew up in the Detroit area and he says the automotive industry "sort of gets in your blood, growing up there." He began his automotive career right out of High School, working on the assembly line, building car-door panels. Ron says he was "living every Detroit kid's dream." He later studied Business administration at the University of Detroit where he developed a particular interest in information systems.

When asked what he enjoys most about the business he says, "The people. There's an amazing cast of characters from so many different places. This business is like a small town ..., you keep running into the same old friends everywhere you go."


Darren Hawthorne
Network Services Manager

Darren is a Quorum “old timer” having joined the company in 1997 as a Network Specialist in Calgary. Over the years Darren has held various positions within the company which have led to his current role as Network Services Manager. In March of 2008 Darren and his family relocated to St. John’s, Newfoundland to be in direct contact with a team of six in the Network Services group. His responsibilities encompass utilizing available technology to provide benefits to customers as it relates to the support, implementation, and development of Quorum’s server solution.

Darren and his family enjoy spending lots of time exploring all the sights of Newfoundland and getting to know their new home province. Darren has a B.Ed from the University of Alberta as well as various industry related designations.


Scott Maroni
Services Delivery Manager

Scott joined Quorum back in February of 2003 as a Support/Implementation Specialist. He was subsequently the Team Lead in Support for about two years before taking on the Best Practices Project Manager role in January of 2007. As of April 2007, Scott manages the Implementations Department, overseeing the Implementations office staff and onsite teams.

Before Quorum, Scott worked as a Fleet and Lease Manager at a Ford store giving him the first-hand automotive experience that is so valued by Quorum’s customers.

There are so many things Scott likes about this company. In his words - “The one thing that keeps me smiling everyday when I come to work is the people and the heart they put into the work they do.”


Yvette Martin, B.A., M.B.A.
Product Manager

After 13 years with SMED International as a Business Analyst, Yvette joined Quorum in March 2003. She recently went back to school to complete her MBA, graduating in June 2006. Now that she’s back at Quorum, Yvette is responsible for new version releases of XSELLERATOR™ working closely with the Implementation and Support teams and Development to determine what features will be included in new versions. Before the versions are released, her team filters and tests the new features to ensure that dealership and manufacturer requirements are being met.

Yvette thrives on change and the dynamic environment at Quorum fulfils that requirement for her.


John Hynes
Support Center Manager

John began his career with Quorum in 2006 as an Accounting Support Specialist. His leadership skills earned him the role of Team Lead of Accounting Support (2008) and then a promotion to the Support Supervisor role (2012). In 2014, John is promoted to Support Center Manager, overseeing activities and personnel in the Quorum Support Center.

With strong knowledge of Excel and our flex report library, John also manages deployment of the library, enjoys new challenges with the product, and figuring out where we can improve it or how different parts work in the software as a whole. He also helps to manage eQUIP, and our performance group.
